A strong organization is comprised of passionate people. And intense passion towards our work may convert us to a nerd. According to Google, a nerd is a foolish or contemptible person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious. Well, most of us don’t fall on the first part of the definition but may often lack social skills and are boring.
Most of the passionate people, driven by their passion, work on weekends. From a normal person’s point of view, that is not healthy. And that is the reality. We don’t need to be in the zone 24/7. Our mind and body need to relax.
Refresh your mind whenever you can. Get out, explore new places, treks, sports, spend time with family, visit old friends, make new connections, and much more. There are infinite ways to have fun and relax. For me, on the last weekend, I went on a small road trip, had good food outside, watched a movie, read a book and had a sound sleep. The day went good and I was all set for the work next day. Getting away from work also made me more eager to get back to it and make things happen.
Sometimes spending long vacations may lead to the “vacation mode”. Coming out of the holiday mood may become difficult and sometimes people don’t realize that. They stay there. Which is again unhealthy. You had fun to relax and be ready for hard work again.
I may not be the best candidate to tell you about the importance of having fun. But if it is coming out of a person, who didn’t step out of the building for five straight days during his internship, it’s no less deal either.
