WordCamp Delhi 2017. How we took it.

We attended WordCamp Delhi 2017, held on August 19th at NDMC Convention center, New Delhi. We registered one month prior and were excited to attend the camp.

Quick Flashback

When I joined ColoredCow, WordPress didn’t mean more than any other framework to me. I wasn’t even confident if it’s “the technology” I want to master or be known for. But there was always a push from folks at ColoredCow and a consistent motivation to lead WordPress here. I joined the WP Slack Channel and it was a great feeling seeing other people talk and work on WordPress and always helping out newbies. I realized that WordPress is not what I (and most of us) think of it. It’s not just for blogging anymore. It has now evolved into a giant Content Management System and there are businesses running on it. Digital libraries, eCommerce applications, music stores, news agencies and much more! I know everybody knows but still, a blog on WordPress is not complete if you don’t mention “WordPress is powering 27.8% of the websites!”.

WordCamp Venue

The venue was solid. It looked professional as we entered the auditorium full of WP enthusiasts. With talks ranging from selling WordPress to clients and how to efficiently use WP (plugins and themes) to troubleshooting errors and securing your site from hackers, the conference was overall good.

Next day in the office, we shared our experience of our first WordCamp over the tea. Moving forward, we decided that ColoredCow won’t be attending any WordCamp in future. Yep, you read correctly. Instead, we’ll be speaking on the WordCamps. We’ve achieved so much in WordPress, both technical as well as non-technical, that we can share it with others. The talks in the camp proved it. Most of the things people talked about, we had already worked on them. There were two things that kept me interested in all those talks. First, my love for WordPress, that I want to know everything that’s related to it. Second, the confirmation that WordPress in ColoredCow is on the right track. “Yes, we’ve done that too! We can talk about our processes as well!

Unfortunately, my phone went to sleep forever (R.I.P) and I couldn’t recover most of the photos. Have ordered a new smartphone with a better camera so that I can take a selfie with the audience after I speak in the next WordCamp. 😀
